We monitor and track the outcomes arising from our support in order to be able to demonstrate that our grants represent value for money, achieve their charitable objectives, and deliver benefit to wider society. This also serves as an important evidence base to inform future strategy.
We are cognisant that our monitoring process needs to be balanced and proportionate, and is not an unnecessary reporting burden. We therefore work closely with those we fund, at the early stages of awarding grants, to identify what the targeted outcomes are and how they will be monitored and tracked.
In the case of the research we fund, we are aware that it may take some time for benefits to emerge and that the direct link to enhancing safety may be difficult to track. Recognising this, we have developed a set of high-level indicators to monitor and track the progress we are making.
