November 2017:

  • After celebrating the project's one year anniversary, the Centre is able to locate a photograph of Reginald J Prescott. Photographs of four different men have now been found.

September 2017:

  • The Memorial is viewable, for one day only, during Open House London 2017.

June 2017:

  • Updates to Joseph E Russell portal, courtesy of David Carter.

  • Updated John E Davis profile with additional address
  • Linked 14 profiles of the men to their Lives of the First World War portal.
  • Centenary News First World War wrote an article about the project, which can be read here.
  • Further updates to Charles T Squires
  • Added The National Archives record number for documents listed for Macey, Prescott, Russell, Wells, West, MacLean and Sandall.

January 2017:

  • Updated Maurice G Wells profile, with additional profile information and photographs.
  • Fixed issues with image viewers.

December 2016:

  • Created project updates page.
  • Added new photos of Joseph C Smith.
  • Updated about our sources page, thanking members of the various online forums who contributed to the project.

November 2016:

  • After contacting the Honourable Artillery Company's archive, the team contact the great nephew of Joseph Smith.
  • By late November, photographs for Joseph E Russell and Joseph C Smith have been sent to the team by members of the public. Using the Imperial War Museum's Lives of the First World War website, the team locate an image of Maurice Godfrey Wells.
  • Within three days, the project receives over 1,000 page views.
  • HEC needs you! is launched on Armistice Day 2016.

August 2016:

  • Research for the project begins. For the next three months, the team meticulously research each member of staff using materials from the archive.
