Data sharing helps makes grant making more visible, informed, strategic and effective.
The Foundation is pleased to be one of the growing number of significant UK grant-givers to share our grants data through the 360Giving standard. 360Giving supports organisations to publish their grants data in an open, standardised way and helps people to understand and use the data in order to support decision-making and learning across the charitable giving sector.
We are committed to being as transparent as possible and so when 360Giving approached us at the end of 2016, we agreed that it was important to contribute and looked into the resource implications for our small team. It was a pleasure working with 360Giving who took time and effort to hold our hand along the route to publication. Finally, everything was set up and our data was validated as being of good enough quality, allowing us to publish by the end of March, in time for GrantNav’s April data pull.
Now that we have made a positive start, we plan to enrich our published data over the coming months. We are very excited to be a part of this new initiative and hope that more grant-giving charities will be encouraged to share their data, in the interests of making grant making more visible, informed, strategic and effective.
